ALISON BENSON is a Sydney-based character-driven writer with a passion to tell stories that explore universal themes and messages of hope.
She may be mature age but has the vitality of a Gen Z without the nightclubs, the tenacity of a dog with a bone but not her dogs - they’re fifteen, blind and sleep all day, and has a truck load of life experiences eg she's a Jew married to a Catholic, has four children, one interracially adopted, grand kiddies and so much more.
Teaching was her calling from age three but screenwriting found it's way into her life when she decided to give her 94 year old dad a voice about his childhood. Her husband said, 'Write a screenplay about him.' She replied, 'What's a screenplay?'
She read books, listened to podcasts, watched webinars, joined groups and has built a supportive network of support.
