BIO
JENNIFER KIM is a Korean American journalist turned screenwriter who grew up in Appalachia with hillbilly culture and lots of absurdity. After graduating from UCLA with an MFA in screenwriting, Jennifer worked at KCET-TV (PBS) on puppet shows and news, contributed to USA TODAY and LOS ANGELES TIMES, and was a radio storyteller on KCRW (NPR) before becoming a high school journalism teacher and social justice law student at night. She is a Grand Prize Winner in ISA’s Sci-fi & Fantasy Competition, a ViacomCBS Mentorship Program Finalist, a Hopwood Award Winner, and has advanced in Austin, Final Draft, and Page. Jennifer’s fish-out-of-water upbringing inspires her stories about rebels and misfits who enjoy disrupting the status quo while discovering themselves along the way.
