BIO
Born to a teenage single mom and the redheaded stepchild of not one but two alcoholic stepfathers, award-winning writer-director MELODY HERR is as industrious as the factory she grew up next to. Both hardworking and adventurous, she fled Detroit to spend years living and traveling around the world with her growing family. Now she escapes through her passion for telling universal, female-driven stories that connect on an emotional level. Melody’s hour-long drama/comedy TAPPED OUT placed in several notable competitions, including Final Draft’s Big Break, the Stowe Story Lab, PAGE Awards, and AFF. Named Best Drama at the London Indie Short Film Festival, Melody’s latest produced short, X-ED OUT, also received awards and official selections from Toronto, Vancouver, and other festivals worldwide. Melody holds an MFA in Writing for Film and TV from Emerson College, and recently produced the feature film DIFFRACTION.
