Even if your ultimate goal is to produce and run your own show, chances are that you’ll need to work in the writers’ rooms of other shows before you can take that leap. One way to do that is to get hired as a support staffer on a show. But what even goes on in a writers’ room? What are all the different positions someone can hold? How can someone make the most out of their time in these positions?
This 60 Minute Webinar Will Cover:
- The positions and hierarchy in the room
- Etiquette in the room
- Making connections and getting your first support staff job
Sophie is a Jewish comedy writer based in Brooklyn, New York. She writes hard funny, pop culture-driven comedy and would be thrilled to write jokes about The Masked Singer on your TV show. She’s worked in production and in writers rooms on shows likeFULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE, THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON, STEPHEN COLBERT PRESENTS: TOONING OUT THE NEWS and THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL. Right now she serves as the Script Coordinator on Apple TV’s PALM ROYALE starring Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney and Carol Burnett.
She was a 2022 Roadmap Writers Support Staff Initiative Select and a finalist for the 2020 NBC Late Night Writers Workshop, famously the last workshop ever. Bummer! Her tweets have been featured in The Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, MEL Magazine, BuzzFeed, and V Magazine.
She is a proud graduate of NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing. It was fun and expensive! She also cries at all dog adoption videos and used to take bites out of sticks of butter as a child.
