Ah, dramedy. What even are you? Are you a lighthearted drama? A comedy with heart? Something else entirely? We've never figured you out, and we're not the only ones. Fellow writers and execs don't know what to make of you either. But you're getting used more and more these days, and we want to understand you.
To untangle this web once and for all (well, we'll see), Roadmap welcomes Bobbie Lucas & Carley Whitt to the webinar stage!
This 90-Minute Webinar Will Cover:
- Defining genres
- Genre conventions and expectations
- How does the Industry feel about dramedies
- Audience Q&A
Carley Whitt is a comedy writer, most recently a Staff Writer on NEVER HAVE I EVER. Before that, Carley served as Showrunner’s Assistant to Lang Fisher (NEVER HAVE I EVER) and the Writers’ PA on Hulu’s FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL. Carley read submissions for the Warner Brothers’ TV Writers’ Workshop where she learned how participants are selected. She is a graduate of USC with a BFA in Writing for TV and Film. Carley has an understanding of what comedy Showrunners look for in writers’ samples and how they decide who to bring into the room. She loves working with fellow writers to help them tell their stories in the best possible way.
Bobbie is very engaging and works exceptionally well with writers. She understands story structure (arcs, themes, inciting, movement, resolution) better than most. I would recommend her to anyone for notes and feedback because of her natural ability to communicate clearly and dial-in to the core of the story.
