Weekend Box Office Top Ten:
SHAZAM! is #1 again with $25.1M (Million), a domestic total of $94.9M, and a global total of $258.8M. Produced for $90M plus marketing, this film will be profitable by the end of next weekend, in another win for WB and DC. A sequel has already been announced, as well as a BLACK ADAM spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson, who was a producer on this film as well.
LITTLE opened at #2 with a solid $15.4M, ahead of initial tracking. Produced for $20M plus a moderate marketing spend, this should prove nicely profitable for Universal.
HELLBOY opened at #3 with a disastrous $12M domestic and $22M worldwide from 40 markets. Produced for $50M plus marketing, this will be a sharp financial loss for all involved.
PET SEMATARY slid to #4 with $10M, a domestic total of $41.1M, and $76.8M worldwide. Produced for just $21M plus marketing, this film is already profitable for Paramount, and another successful King remake.
DUMBO is #5 with $9.1M, a domestic total of $89.9M, and $266.9M globally. Produced for $170M plus an expensive marketing campaign, this film will be a steep financial loss for Disney.
CAPTAIN MARVEL held at #6 with $8.6M, a domestic total of $386.5M, and impressive $1.086 Billion for Disney and Marvel, a tremendous number ahead of the record profit AVENGERS: ENDGAME will earn in just a couple of weeks.
US is #7 with $6.9M, a domestic total of $163.4M, and $235.9M globally as the film begins to wind down its impressive run for Universal and Jordan Peele.
AFTER opened at #8 with just $6.2M, and $18.4M worldwide, an okay though unspectacular result for this YA romance.
MISSING LINK opened at #9 with only $5.8M, a disaster for Laika and their worst opening weekend ever, by more than -50%, which could spell trouble for the future of the animation studio.
THE BEST OF ENEMIES fell to #10 with $2M, and a $8.1M total for STX, which means this $10M film will be a moderate financial loss.
Next weekend sees THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA from WB, and Disney Nature's PENGUINS documentary, before AVENGERS: ENDGAME opens to massive global numbers beginning on April 25th, kicking off what will be a busy and highly lucrative summer movie season.
