Roadmap Writers has helped over 400 screenwriters sign with industry representation in just six years. We pride ourselves on partnering with the best and brightest industry professionals the entertainment world has to offer to develop the most promising up-and-coming screenwriters.
We focus on the quality of education rather than the quantity of numbers in our programming. We pride ourselves on getting to know each writer individually and doing our best to cater to their individual needs. Because it takes so much investment, time, and care to champion and launch a writer’s professional career, we focus work on Career Writers over hobbyists. Each program is taught by passionate working executives with a proven track record. Roadmap is the only screenwriting organization that has a fully guided tiered program that will help you build an incredibly strong foundation for lasting career success. That is why we developed the GPS Fellowship Program.
What is the GPS Fellowship?
GPS stands for GUIDANCE, PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT, and STRATEGY.
Committed to boosting access, exposure, and opportunities for emerging writers, the Roadmap Writers GPS Fellowship is a six-month program with three main goals
Build relationships between Mentees and Industry Reps.
Help Writers sharpen their craft via Executive Mentors.
Develop interpersonal skills crucial for breaking into and succeeding in the industry.
What does the GPS Fellowship consist of?
Each Season, we will select four emerging writers from a competitive applicant pool. In addition to being part of a tight-knit peer network, the program is designed to help the fellows develop a career action plan and offer ongoing support. Selected Mentees will receive the following:
6 monthly one-on-one strategy and note sessions with their Executive Mentor.
Peer workshops.
Small-group, industry insider chats with Agents, Managers, Execs, and Fellowship Mentors.
A half-day mock writer's room, exposing Mentees to what's expected in a real room.
The culmination of the fellowship includes in-person meetings with RoadCrew, Mentors, and other industry Executives in L.A (travel, meals, and lodging not included.)
What is expected of the Mentees?
To max out the program's benefits, writers should be ready to:
Join monthly workshops (evening/weekend).
Meet with their peer group regularly-timing TBD by group consensus. This may look like a weekly writers' group scenario.
Participate in a half-day mock writer's room.
Meet with their Mentor via Zoom, phone, and/or email.
And like all our competitions, we will do personalized outreach to execs of all the high-scoring scripts no matter where the script lands in the competition. This will help even more writers get their work in front of execs than ever before. This is not a giant email/booklet with a bunch of loglines sent to execs. It's individual personalized emails to execs we feel could be right for your particular project.
Disclaimer
The GPS Fellowship isn’t a job and offers no pay. Instead, it’s an all-in career development program focused on setting up top emerging writers for industry representation. It’s voluntary and designed to fit around their work schedule.
