Emily Thomas is a writer and producer of dramatic content, most notably for the acclaimed Netflix Original Series LONGMIRE, for which she served first as the show’s Writer Assistant and Script Coordinator and later as the designated on-set Creative Producer. Emily has worked with Warner Horizon Television, the William Morris Endeavor Agency, Jerry Bruckheimer Productions, and Kartemquin Documentary Films.
Emily is an alumni of Columbia College Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of the Arts in Television Writing & Producing, was awarded The National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences Scholarship, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is currently a Teaching Artist with Point Park University’s Department of Cinema Arts, where she teaches screenwriting and adjacent curriculum.
A Pittsburgh native, Emily’s personal work explores the intricacies of Appalachian culture, giving voice to an often ignored and underserved region of the country. She is particularly passionate about stories that speak to the complexities of loss and survival, in all their many forms.
