I love reading character driven pieces -- whether it's comedy or drama. I love soap and dark comedy as well. Open to all stories but particularly enjoy LGBTQ+ and women-led stories.

More about Fola Goke-Pariola

Fola, a queer Nigerian-American writer, was born and raised in Georgia. In 2012, after graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill, Fola made the cross country drive to Los Angeles, where he discovered the true meaning of perseverance (and the limits of his car’s air conditioning). Fola then spent several years working at various production companies and studios (Sierra/Affinity,The Mark Gordon Company, Legendary Entertainment), gaining invaluable experience in creative development.

In 2017, his essay, I GOT CATFISHED ON A DATING APP, BUT THERE ARE OTHER FISH IN THE SEA, ran in the LA Times. In 2019, he garnered a fellowship with the Outfest Screenwriting Lab for his script SUGAR HONEY ICED TEA. Soon after, he joined the writer’s room for Prime Videos's PAPER GIRLS. Fola also won Powderkeg and Color Creative’s Teen Movie Contest, for his feature THE OTHER ONE. Since then, Fola has written on TOM SWIFT (CW), the upcoming WE WERE LIARS (Prime Video), and continues to develop and go out with original projects that blend sharp humor, heartfelt drama, and just the right amount of chaos. He currently is the Creator/Executive Producer of a TV project that is set up at MGM Television.

When not writing, Fola can be found perfecting his jollof rice recipe, traveling more than his bank account should allow, and re-watching Desperate Housewives so often he should seek psychiatric help.
