While studying Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University, Jessica Jacobs knew she wanted to produce content that inspired people and connected them. While in school, she expanded her taste by working for Weed Road Pictures, Indian Paintbrush, A&E Networks, and Electric City Entertainment. She also co-wrote, directed, and produced a number of shorts, including LIFE IN TEXT (starring Alexandra Daddario & Tyler Ritter) that gained rave reviews on Yahoo!, NoFilmSchool.com, and Slashfilm. After graduating, Jess became a Film Independent Lab fellow and was awarded a grant from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences for her filmmaking endeavors.
Over the last 5 years, Jess has rose through the ranks in both development and production. Early in her career, Jess found her niche in acquiring and developing Intellectual Property at Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8. In the book department, she scouted available IP and emerging filmmakers, developed tentpole movies for global audiences, and brought in I HATE THE INTERNET, a NYT Bestseller (currently in development at TNT w/ Chelsea Handler producing). Jess later worked under Paul Schiff (RUSHMORE) on set and in post on Netflix's HOW IT ENDS, starring Forest Whitaker. She also brought in and produced Netflix’s FRACTURED, a psychological thriller starring Sam Worthington.
From 2018-2019, Jess served as a Director or Development at Artillery Creative, a boutique management & production company, where she oversaw film and television and worked closely with their diverse literary clients. Now, Jess is an independent producer and her slate champions female driven content, diverse voices, left of center stories, and underdogs. She loves the power of collaboration and continues to pursue projects that inspire and connect people.
