I'm attracted to original voices---writing that reflects the times we live in and the conversations we're having as a society... rather than the general trends the studios mandate. Genre and format matter less to me than the heart of the story and the original point-of-view the writer brings to it.
Morgyn Utzman (she/her) is an LA-based writer from the Houston suburbs. Her work explores the darker side of the feminine experience and existential angst, spanning across multiple genres and mediums. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, she went on to network shows like THE SON (AMC) and QUEEN SUGAR (OWN) in multiple capacities. Morgyn served as the development coordinator to director/writer/showrunner Kat Candler for many years and often collaborates in the development and writing of Kat's projects. She has had original plays produced in Los Angeles with a theatre company, one of which premiered at Hollywood Fringe Fest 2022. Most recently, Morgyn was a staff writer on an upcoming show for Starz. Currently, Morgyn is packaging a feature she wrote with Kat and producer Rebecca Green, as well as managing several other projects in development.
