BIO

ANDREW VARHOL is a New York-based writer who grew up in a large Italian/Ukrainian family where over-the-top drama was a part of daily life. He attended Georgetown University and acted in many college theater productions, which helped him discover the power of storytelling. After college, Andrew worked in marketing in various industries, including television, off-Broadway theater, and book publishing, all of which were connected by the same craft of storytelling through different mediums. In 2020, Andrew experienced several life-changing events, including the loss of his older brother and a divorce. This led him to discover the therapeutic benefits of screenwriting, which he uses to express himself through high-concept sci-fi/fantasy stories. Andrew draws inspiration from the late Amblin-style films of the late 20th century that made him fall in love with movies as a kid. He credits Steven Spielberg, John Hughes, and Robert Zemeckis as major storytelling influences. Andrew has honed his screenwriting skills through Roadmap Writers. His scripts have placed in several prominent screenwriting competitions, including the Austin Film Festival’s Script Competition, the Screencraft Fellowship, the ISA’s Emerging Writer’s Competition, and the PAGE Screenwriting Competition.
