BIO
Originally from the Philippines, CHARMAINE COLINA grew up in the LA suburb of San Gabriel, raised on Saturday morning cartoons, comic books, and Dodger games. But like most immigrant kids, she rarely saw herself represented in movies and TV. Writing was a way to create a more inclusive world. It's how she found her voice--the voice of a woman who understands firsthand the healing power of storytelling, who believes kindness and decency are more important than wealth and status, and that dogs are synonymous with unconditional love. In 2023, she won the UCLA Professional Program in Writing for TV Competition with her comedy, AUSTENTATIOUS, and Grand Prize in the Emerging Screenwriters Drama Competition with her western, GUNSLINGER BRIDE. She was honored by the Asian-American Podcasters Assoc. with the 2023 Golden Crane Award for Best Fiction Podcast for her comedy, LITTLE MAN. Her storytelling is inspired by strong women, unlikely heroes, second chances, and her big Filipino-American family.
