Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, this Columbia College grad has gathered an impressive amount of awards as an indie filmmaker: Silence: In Search of Black Female Sexuality in America (Nzinga Stewart and Director X), which won the Best Documentary Award at the Reel Sisters Film Festival and is currently available on different platforms, like Amazon. It also won a Telly Award for production. Her second feature documentary, Afraid of Dark (Vondie Curtis Hall and Malik Yoba), received a lot of attention in the press on BET and Shadow & Act. It is now streaming on KweliTV. After several years of making documentaries, she decided to get back into her passion for writing. Her recent work as a screenwriter, Soul Doll won Finalist in the Filmmatic Horror Screenplay Awards and The Beat received honorable mention last year at the Big Apple Film Festival. Her TV pilot, A Bed in Brooklyn placed as Quarterfinalists in several writing competitions. She is now in pre-production of a short film she wrote, Finals that she will be directing.
