BIO
RUDI O'MEARA is an award-winning action/horror screenwriter working in both the feature world and on projects for television. His writing has been recognized by ScreenCraft, Austin Film Festival, Shore Scripts, Page, The Black List, Filmmatic, The Red List, Launch Pad, Vail Film Festival, and Final Draft Big Break. And while Rudi is not a comedy specialist, even his scarier stuff tends to be pretty funny—or so he is told. Rudi got his start in the biz early (working for Academy Award-winning indie producer David Weisman). But then he pivoted careers completely and has been running a boutique brand strategy agency in San Francisco for the past 20 years. It was only during COVID that Rudi finally started listening to that little voice in his head that kept asking him why he wasn't writing. So, during the pandemic, Rudi leapt back into it—and has 15 features, five pilots, and one short (some of which have been really resonating with folks and some of which he continues to fine-tune and tweak). Rudi has been a storyteller basically as long as he can remember—much to his family’s chagrin. Rudi's wife (who is his first and most important reader) often wishes he didn’t have quite so much to say. In general, Rudi's writing tends to feature flawed characters struggling to redefine themselves (and their tribe) in order to survive. And he sees genre as a tool for exploring taboo subjects in unexpected and arresting ways. Oh, and Rudi loves it when his characters start using their words all on their own!
