Black List Recommended screenwriter SUZANNE GRIFFIN creates darkly romantic dramas centered in female agency and ambition, whose fierce, witty protagonists risk everything to reinvent themselves and the world around them.
Her themes reflect her journey as a queer woman writer: self-determination, alliances among women, and the healing power of empathy. Advocating for her learning-disabled and now college-enrolled son has fueled Suzanne’s passion for narratives that champion and empower marginalized voices.
Suzanne is a Stowe Story Labs/PAGE Awards Fellowship Winner for her pilot The Sensualist, and twice a Nicholl Semifinalist. Suzanne was selected for the 2024 HerArts Film Lab, where she developed her new Romantic Horror pilot Brooklyn Gothic. She has been mentored by showrunners JaNeika and JaSheika James (Gossip Girl, Bel-Air) through the WIF Mentoring Program.
Suzanne’s also a Sundance Episodic Lab Second Rounder, a CineStory Foundation Fellowship Finalist, a Diverse Voices Lab Finalist, a Filmarket Hub TV Pilot Winner, and an Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition Finalist. Her pilot Alliance is the All-time #1 1-hour Adventure Pilot for 2024 on Coverfly. Suzanne received her MFA from NYU Graduate Film, with prizes in producing and directing. She lives in Brooklyn, NY - her frequent muse.
