As we’re starting a new year, open to everything on the table until new mandates drop mid-Q1. Based on last years’ TV mandates, the more difficult projects will be period, sci-fi (grounded and elevated), non-IP fantasy, and premise-y comedy. For film, ideal projects are under $25 million for most studios and under $10 for independent. Procedurals and episodic are still big.
Personal preferences are scripts that elevate marginalized stories or communities, female-led, TV comedies.
No dystopian; too impossible to sell.
Averie started her career in TV as an NBC Page, learning the network and studio ropes while giving tours and working on THE TONIGHT SHOW. During her time at NBCUni, she earned the coveted assignment of Primetime Programming & Studios Development, where she saw the development of THE OFFICE, PARKS & RECREATION, PARENTHOOD, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, CHUCK, and 30 ROCK.
Later, she joined Amy Pascal's company as a Creative Executive, where she was tasked with creating an entire television department, and started with BENEATH A SCARLET SKY – the #1 Most Read and #2 Most Bought Book on Amazon in 2016 – and attached Tom Holland to star. She also worked on multiple features including Greta Gerwig’s LITTLE WOMEN, Aaron Sorkin’s MOLLY’S GAME, Paul Feig’s GHOSTBUSTERS, and Jon Watt’s SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. After Pascal Pictures, she moved to BOOM! Studios, where she ran television as VP and set up over 20 projects based on their comic and graphic novel library. She was instrumental in selling BOOM!’s first ever television series at Disney+, JUST BEYOND, based on the RL Stine graphic novel of the same name. She also helped develop MECH CADET at Netflix and staffed the writers’ room, which debuted Top 10 on the platform in October '23. Other projects at BOOM! included JOYRIDE with Sera Gamble, John McNamara, and David Reed (FX), THE SPIRE with Gemma Holdway (Roku), BUTTERFLY with Arash Amel (Amazon), and BONE PARISH with Akela Cooper (MRC).
Leaving comics behind, she went to run Mandy Moore’s production company, Roll With The Punches where she was a producing partner and Head of Development. While at RWTP, she built out the slate to include TWIN FLAMES with Rebecca Adelmann, set up at Peacock, and LILI’UOKALANI with Shannon Goss Schwartz, Dana Ledoux Miller, and Destin Daniel Cretton, set up at Onyx. Under their deal at 20th, Roll With The Punches also won MY MOM HAS NO FRIENDS, an article by Monica Corcoran-Harel that has Daisy Gardner attached to showrun, in a six way bidding war; GRACE CHURCH with Kim Rosenstock & Rob Rosell; and FALLING FOR DANGER with Melinda Hsu.
Independent projects include adapting Maakiia Lucier’s DRAGONFRUIT for TV with Su’a Films and New Leaf Literary, which she negotiated the shopping agreement for; and MALCOLM MCREE & THE MONEY TREE, a co-viewing series that currently has Ty Burrell attached to star and Adam Shankman attached to direct.
Averie is Native Hawaiian (hapa) and a founding board member of PEAK (Pasifika Entertainment Advancement Komiti), and on the boards of ULSC (Untitled Ladies’ Script Club) and the Inevitable Foundation’s Investment Advisory Board. Additionally, as someone with chronic illness, she is an active member of the Arthritis Foundation where she has raised over $30k for autoimmune research. She has done mentorships for Women in Film, Reel Champions, Film2Future, Outfest, and HRTS and led and designed the first ever Pasifika Producing & Executive Fellowship funded by The Asian American Foundation with a $15k grant.

PITCH DECKS: These are visually-driven documents (20 pages max) that use images and short paragraphs of text to demonstrate the tone, world, character insight, key plot points, stakes, and theme of the series or feature. If the Pitch Deck is for a show, it will use some of the same sections of text as your Series Bible, but will be less extensive. When creating a pitch deck, always make sure that you are using images of a consistent size and quality, and that you use the same font, color code, margins, and other design specifications throughout. SERIES BIBLES: These supplemental documents are text-only (20 pages max), and can get requested when marketing any sort of TV show. Among other things, they should demonstrate what makes your characters unique and captivating, the focus and evolution of their arcs, the rules of the world, the hook of the story engine, the intended tone and theme, as well as why YOU are the best person to write this show from this perspective. Here's example #1 and example #2. Note: The formatting and organization of Series Bibles has changed since these examples were created, but addressing these sections in your own Series Bible will be a great starting point to make sure you're answering questions before they're asked.
**Please note series bibles and pitch decks are each limited to 20 pages maximum. Please contact terra@roadmapwriters.com for pricing on a consultation for material exceeding 20 pages.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration for a refund or Roadmap gift card if you have not yet submitted your material for review. However, once your material has been received by Roadmap, your registration cannot be canceled. Having revised material or a desire to retroactively apply a discount or gift card code are not grounds for cancellation, refunds, or gift card credit. Once your material has been submitted, the only acceptable grounds for cancellation and a refund or gift card credit is an unforeseen, ongoing emergency on the part of either the writer or the exec resulting in more than 6 weeks without any scheduling update from the exec via direct contact or Roadmap, or a sudden change in the exec's ongoing availability. In the instance of an irreconcilable scheduling issue, the writer may still receive a written feedback report from the exec. In this case, the writer is not entitled to a refund or gift card credit as the exec has read the submitted material and provided written feedback in lieu of the call.
