Get an exec's perspective on the opening pages of your script.
- The executive of your choice will spend 10 minutes reading the opening pages of your script.
- The exec will provide a feedback report on that read which you will receive within 7 to 10 business days of the scheduled session.
1) Be yourself. Execs truly want writers to succeed during pitches because they are looking for the next big hit, and they hope it's you. If you mess up during a pitch, who cares... do you! Remember, they want you to win.
2) Show your passion. Execs are investing in you as much as they are investing in what you're pitching. You're more likely to get a yes if execs can see your enthusiasm and connection to what you're selling.
3) Pitch formatting. There are multiple formats for pitches. Some networks (like Netflix) have their own suggested format. I prefer to customize my pitches to each project I'm taking out. For example, if pitching a thriller, you may lay out information in a way that surprises or takes your execs on a journey, rather than just presenting information.
Half-hour & hour dramas and dramedies are more my lane. I'm genre agnostic for the most part, but I'm attracted to ensembles, music-driven, and queer stories.
Pure comedies (like sitcoms)
Brandon Hines is originally from High Point, NC, home to the biggest "Chest of Drawers" and John Coltrane. After veering off the medical school path, Brandon moved to New York City to pursue a career in Film and Television, climbing his way up the production ladder, working on projects such as: 30 ROCK, ROYAL PAINS, SEX AND THE CITY 2, and many more. After finding his footing, Brandon transitioned to working as a Script Coordinator and Writer’s Assistant, gathering over a decade of writers’ room experience, working on shows such as CRASHING, HIGH MAINTENANCE, and AWKWAFINA IS NORA FROM QUEENS. In 2019, Brandon was given his first writing job on the ABC International/French M6 series, REEF BREAK. Since, he has written for the MTV variety series, “Yo! MTV Raps: Asia,” Season 2 of HARLEM for Amazon Studios, and FELLOW TRAVELERS, a limited series for Showtime. Brandon continues to develop queer and diverse stories in both TV and film.
- Immediately after registering, you will receive an Order Confirmation email that serves as the receipt for your registration.
- In the Order Summary section of this email you will find a link reading "CLICK HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS" that will take you to instructions on how to submit your script via the Material Submission Form.
- Your material submission is due as soon as you are ready, but no later than 9:00am PT on the day of the session.
- During the session, the exec will read as many of your opening pages as they can get through in 10 minutes.
- You will receive this exec's written feedback on your pages via email within 10 business days following the session unless otherwise notified.
