As writers, is there anything that makes our palms sweat more than networking? While plenty of people genuinely enjoy meeting new faces and making new industry friends, a lot of us don't know where to start approaching people when we're at a party or online.
This is for those who are new to entertainment and want to network meaningfully to build relationships and a career. Think of it as a bootcamp crash course on networking over the course of two clinic sessions, two hours each. You'll leave the workshop with an idea on how to shine in any networking setting from a mixer to a coffee and some tools to work on your networking skills.
This Two Week Clinic Will Cover:
- Networking with peers vs. potential mentors
- Methods to keep track of contacts
- Zoom vs. in-person networking
- Personal loglines
- Live Q&A
A child of Vietnam War immigrants, Jeane is Vietnamese-Chinese. She was raised Buddhist in the San Gabriel Valley with stints in Orange County and a Mormon town in Nevada. Growing up, she developed a sweet tooth as a child working at her parents’ bakery. She grew up on a steady diet of Asian folklore, Sailor Moon, and weekly comic books. After interning in politics, getting certified as a First Responder, and a stint working at an oncology lab, she was on a pre-law public healthcare path. But this work convinced her to live by her favorite Han Solo line "Never tell me the odds" and dive into her real passion: Hollywood.
Jeane is a published author, journalist, and podcaster. Jeane has sold numerous pilots, a feature, and has experience producing television from prep to post. She staffed on Freemantle's SANDOKAN and consulted for Freeform's pilot AZNBBYGRL and for Mattel. She’s currently part of Rideback Circle and is a WGA Captain. Jeane has worked in different genres but her writing skews a tongue in cheek POV and dry wit. Jeane also has experience on the other side of the development in indie filmmaking at Uncommon Voices Collective. She loves character studies, love triangles, and big worlds. When not writing, Jeane is a cat mom to Gabby Soprano and a breakfast burrito sommelier.
