More about Ian Phillips

Ian was a Creative Executive at Groundswell Productions (THIRTEEN, SIDEWAYS, TRUMBO, MILK // SMILF, THE MAGICIANS, CONFIRMATION), Michael London’s company, servicing a first look deal at Lionsgate. At Groundswell he had an active hand in production of FX’s SNOWFALL, Searchlight’s THE GREATEST HITS, and Channel 4 (UK)’s ALICE & JACK as well as development for myriad projects in TV and film on the slate, spanning multiple genres. He has also worked extensively with Jon Silk, formerly at his own imprint (Silk Mass), now Head of Original Film at Netflix. Currently he is New York-based, freelancing on multiple documentary projects focused on the environment and the New York DOE. Skills include script consults, adapting existing IP (especially comics, long form journalism, and novels), and pitch preparation.

Prior to entertainment, he worked as an environmental policy consultant, with an area focus on agriculture and water sustainability in Sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia. He continues this practice through active work with non-profit groups focused on urban forestry and post-disaster reforestation efforts as well as riparian health in New York City’s waterways.
