Something that is grounded in emotional stakes, thematically written, and leaves readers with a message they can take with them.
Fantasy or blue skies comedies - mad respect, but not my cup of tea!
James DeLorean lives in Los Angeles. He tells empowering character-driven stories about working-class outsiders who desperately aspire to change their circumstances. He's currently the Writers' Room Assistant on Season 2 of SYFY's smash hit THE ARK. His journey began as a screenwriter and singer-songwriter, during which time he wrote an original musical, but when a series of sudden hearing loss episodes led to a devastating inner ear disorder diagnosis, he focused squarely on his passion of storytelling.
James studied writing at UCB, Second City, iO West, and Script Anatomy. His work has been featured in LA Weekly, The Dallas Observer, VoyageLA, Funny or Die, and the Huffington Post - and he was a semifinalist in Final Draft's Big Break and Scriptapalooza.
He enjoys watching true crime docs with his wife (who's studying crime scene investigation), quality time with his ill-behaved golden retriever, collecting vintage computers, and wondering why the hell AOL pulled the plug on AIM. He loves helping other writers hone their stories and celebrating their successes.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration for a refund or Roadmap gift card if you have not yet submitted your material for review. However, once your material has been received by Roadmap, your registration cannot be canceled. Having revised material or a desire to retroactively apply a discount or gift card code are not grounds for cancellation, refunds, or gift card credit. Once your material has been submitted, the only acceptable grounds for cancellation and a refund or gift card credit is an unforeseen, ongoing emergency on the part of either the writer or the exec resulting in more than 6 weeks without any scheduling update from the exec via direct contact or Roadmap, or a sudden change in the exec's ongoing availability. In the instance of an irreconcilable scheduling issue, the writer may still receive a written feedback report from the exec. In this case, the writer is not entitled to a refund or gift card credit as the exec has read the submitted material and provided written feedback in lieu of the call.
