I have a particular interest in "out-of-the-box" writers who are trying to make sure their projects are viable in the eyes of producers, studios, etc. While I'm open to mostly all genres, my personal specialty lies in sci-fi (both grounded and big budget) and period pieces.
I tend to steer clear of family-friendly/faith-based concepts.
Jess Carson is a Los Angeles-based Black writer/director who made her way into filmmaking in her hometown of Little Rock, AR by self-producing a number of short films within her local community through trial, error, and a sheer love of the craft.
In 2015, she decided to branch out to hone her skills in more saturated markets – first by way of Brooklyn, NY, where she was hired to write an Off-Broadway musical, ONLY HUMAN, and then settling in Los Angeles, CA in 2018.
Her work spans genres and her focus is on well-rounded, character-driven narratives that resonate with audiences of all demographics as well as those that put society under a lens via undertones of societal commentary.
Most recently, Jess was a writer on the CW's THE FLASH, from the end of season 6 until the end of the show's 9-season run. She is also polishing a wide range of projects and is actively developing a gritty, original TV show, DEAD RED. She is represented by managers Kegan Schell & Abigail Palmer at Navigation Media Group.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration for a refund or Roadmap gift card if you have not yet submitted your material for review. However, once your material has been received by Roadmap, your registration cannot be canceled. Having revised material or a desire to retroactively apply a discount or gift card code are not grounds for cancellation, refunds, or gift card credit. Once your material has been submitted, the only acceptable grounds for cancellation and a refund or gift card credit is an unforeseen, ongoing emergency on the part of either the writer or the exec resulting in more than 6 weeks without any scheduling update from the exec via direct contact or Roadmap, or a sudden change in the exec's ongoing availability. In the instance of an irreconcilable scheduling issue, the writer may still receive a written feedback report from the exec. In this case, the writer is not entitled to a refund or gift card credit as the exec has read the submitted material and provided written feedback in lieu of the call.
