Everything, other than books! Almost any genre other than rom-coms and fantasy -- and when it comes to TV, I'm happy to look at any format.
As much as I objectively appreciate them as genres, fantasy and romantic comedies just aren't my bag -- at least not in a way where I can be helpful as a note giver.
Max Cunningham currently works as a Writers’ Assistant on the show TULSA KING. Prior to that, he spent four years at Berlanti Productions, a company whose credits include YOU, THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT, RIVERDALE, ALL AMERICAN, THE FLASH, and SUPERMAN AND LOIS. Max first worked for their head of television development, Ryan Lindenberg, learning the ins and outs of how a television series actually moves from an early-stage pitch to a finished pilot in both broadcast and streaming. After being promoted to Greg Berlanti’s desk, Max was offered the chance to write an episode of SUPERMAN & LOIS. This led to a chance to work on the show as their Writers’ Assistant for their next two seasons, where he also was able to write two more scripts for the show, before transitioning to TULSA KING.
Max graduated with honors from the University of Arizona, with a degree in English Literature and a minor in Film & Television.
As a fan of Berlanti Productions, I was initially nervous, but Max's polite and friendly nature really put me at ease. He is highly insightful, especially when it comes to storytelling and was able to offer notes that turned my story from being just a great script into something that could possibly be a very exciting TV show. I would certainly work with him again.

Max's feedback pushed our feature in an exciting direction! Well worth the cost of the program!

I've been revising my script for 2 years and was not looking forward to another round of notes from yet another person. But Max really impressed me. He didn’t suggest huge story changes to cater to his taste, instead, he offered specific revisions to strengthen what was already there. This is a rare ability. Max also gives notes in a supportive and collaborative way, yet always respectful that the story is mine. I’ll definitely use him when fine-tuning my next script.
