Work one-on-one with an executive at mutually agreed upon times around your schedule. To start, you'll have a 15-minute strategy call with your executive to get the lay of the land for the month. Then, you’ll have email access to your executive throughout, plus four one-hour story notes sessions. Work on a single screenplay or multiple scripts plus get additional notes on your pitch, brand strategy, and career advice - work your mentorship to its fullest potential!
It might sound cliché, but being authentic is key. When I ask, "Why this story, and why now?" and "Why are you the one to tell it?" I’m looking to understand the unique perspective and passion you bring to the table. The more you reveal about who you are and why this story matters to you, the easier it is for me—and any potential buyers—to connect with and appreciate the depth of your vision.
I’m really interested in projects that mix emotional depth with humor and a bit of darkness. I’m drawn to adult animation that can be both funny and thought-provoking, like BOJACK HORSEMAN or RICK AND MORTY. For family-friendly animation, I love stories that appeal to both kids and adults, much like AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER or THE INCREDIBLES.
I’m also excited about coming-of-age stories that feel real and relatable, whether they’re grounded like EIGHTH GRADE or have a sci-fi twist like STRANGER THINGS. I’m a big fan of buddy comedies with a mix of humor and heart, similar to SUPERBAD. In horror, I’m particularly into psychological horror that digs into real fears, like HEREDITARY or GET OUT. And when it comes to kids’ and family TV, I’m all about character-driven stories that are both exciting and meaningful, like GRAVITY FALLS or THE MANDALORIAN. I’m eager to connect with writers who are passionate about these kinds of stories!
Mikiel Houser is a seasoned production and creative executive with over 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He has played a pivotal role in the development of iconic franchises such as TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, and AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. Mikiel served as Vice President of Development and Current Series at Nickelodeon, where he oversaw the production of key animated series. He was also a Principal Executive at Avatar Studios, where he led the buildout of the new Avatar Studios as well as the strategic development and expansion of the AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER Universe. Previously, at Hasbro Studios, Mikiel led the development and strategy, bringing their flagship brands to life through animation.
Private Month Mentorship
Each month mentorship kicks off with a preliminary 15-min. call to set expectations and lay out strategy for the month. Writer will have email access to the executive plus 4x one-hour consultations with the exec. Exec will read up to 4 scripts in one month (different drafts of the same script or 4 different scripts) and conduct 4x one-hour story notes calls. Calls can also include feedback on your pitch, branding, or career strategy.
If you pay with the deposit/payment plan, your second half will be due the 2nd week of the Mentorship. If you need a different type of payment plan, email dorian@roadmapwriters.com.

What To Expect
