Want ongoing career guidance?

The industry is a wild place and you can find yourself going around in circles trying to find the best route forward.

We're excited to introduce a monthly career guidance program with someone who is doing the job we all want to be doing - working as a writer. Jess is an experienced reader and consultant and will impart her wisdom to her writers every month.

Consistency and networking are crucial in this industry and this program will help you achieve both!

Program Details

This Monthly Career Coaching consists of bi-weekly email correspondence and 1 live virtual roundtable with Jess. This is an opportunity to flesh out your brand, ask industry-related questions, learn about the current industry landscape, get networking tips and figure out the best way to position your material in the marketplace. You can even bring in feedback you received from other execs and have Jess help you figure out how to best implement them.

Note: if you register after the month begins, you will start your program the following month.

Save $10 when you Subscribe—only $49/month!

Office Hours - 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month @ 6pm - 8pm PT

Summary

Email the exec any specific industry-related questions and conundrums anytime and this exec will respond between these office hours!

Please note that emails outside of office hours are at the discretion of the coach. If you've just thought of something and want to send an email right away before you forget, that's fine, but please remember that we've set aside these office hours for responding to questions so that's when to expect a response. Jess is a total rockstar, but she's working with the same 24 hours we all have. :)

Virtual Meetup - Third Saturday of each month @ 3pm - 4:30pm PT

Summary

Join your Coach on video conferencing software Zoom where you'll discuss the current industry landscape, do's and don'ts on pitching and screenwriting, bring in industry guests, check in with each writer to provide guidance on reaching weekly goals, and answer any questions!

Host:
Jess Carson - Writer/Producer, Tiny Phoenix, Inc. / Formerly on THE FLASH

Jess Carson is a Los Angeles-based Black writer/director who made her way into filmmaking in her hometown of Little Rock, AR by self-producing a number of short films within her local community through trial, error, and a sheer love of the craft.

In 2015, she decided to branch out to hone her skills in more saturated markets – first by way of Brooklyn, NY, where she was hired to write an Off-Broadway musical, ONLY HUMAN, and then settling in Los Angeles, CA in 2018.

Her work spans genres and her focus is on well-rounded, character-driven narratives that resonate with audiences of all demographics as well as those that put society under a lens via undertones of societal commentary.

Most recently, Jess was a writer on the CW's THE FLASH, from the end of season 6 until the end of the show's 9-season run. She is also polishing a wide range of projects and is actively developing a gritty, original TV show, DEAD RED. She is represented by managers Kegan Schell & Abigail Palmer at Navigation Media Group.
