Deadline: December 9th, 2022 by 11:59 PM PT (FREE!)
At Roadmap, we want to continue to do our part and build off of the inclusion work we've done over the past six years since Roadmap's inception to empower and lift up more Indigenous voices. We believe one of the best vehicles in the fight against racism and white-washed storytelling is to promote awareness and understanding of one another. The voices of Indigenous writers have been systematically ignored and undermined in Hollywood and society at large. We continue to support our diverse community of creators to help share and empower the experiences of persons of color.
Submit ONE project logline, script, and your writer bio, if you'd like to participate in this FREE program.
Please note this is ONLY open to North American Indigenous creative, but feel free to spread the word!
Submissions are limited to ONE per writer to ensure all qualifying writers receive equal exposure.
Once you sign up and check out (at no cost), you will receive an email confirmation to upload and enter your material.
We're also super excited to have Slamdance now join this Initiative!
Each writer who submits to this Initiative will receive an invitation to attend Slamdance Joshua Tree’s workshop series for FREE from October 13th to 15th, 2023.
ABOUT SLAMDANCE:
The mission of Slamdance is to champion emerging artists who in turn will shape our cultural future.
Slamdance has successfully discovered and supported independent artists since 1995. Though Slamdance has greatly evolved since the early years, its spirit remains the same. Slamdance is a community, a year-round experience, and a statement in which everyone is invited to take part. As an artist-led group Slamdance has been able to thrive working outside the system to create a disruptive co-operative run ”by filmmakers, for filmmakers.” Slamdance continues to discover and nurture diverse, international creators through new programs like Slamdance Unstoppable, which focuses on creators with visible and nonvisible disabilities, existing programs like the Slamdance Screenplay Competition, DIG (digital, interactive and gaming), grants and mentorships, and its film festival: the Slamdance Film Festival, that will run in person from January 20th to 26th, 2023 and online on the Slamdance Channel from January 23rd to 29th and Slamdance Joshua Tree that will run in person from October 13th to 15th, 2023.
Slamdance conducts business as a Non-Profit Organization under U.S. Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
